Last night and in the wee hours of this morning, Annuska became a first time mom. The delivery was difficult. She was in labor for several hours. A few babies were breech and she had a hard time delivering them. Needless to say she was exhausted and had a bit of a rough start settling down. She wasn't interested in nursing her babies and seemed a bit overwhelmed which is not uncommon for a first time mama. We helped her feed her babies and made sure she got some rest, and this morning she was working on nursing her babies and seems to settle down. We will keep a close eye on her to make sure she and her babies are ok and will supplement feed when needed. We have 2 brown tabbies, both boys, and 4 brown tabbies with white, 3 boys and 1 girl.
Siberian kittens are always cute, there's no doubt about it. But every now and then, you get one that is super duper cool, and just has that something special. You know it from the day they are born. You pick them up and you know instantly there's something very special laying in your hands. This is one of them. This is Stephanie's boy Roger. His is a golden/silver kitten and he is just super special. He loves my husband Dan, he suckles on his nose and just stares at him in utter adoration. When he lays in his hands, he just turns upside down, puts his legs in the air and comfortably falls asleep. He is now 3 weeks old, and it's getting more special every day. This is one of those that is going to be very hard to let go. Stephanie is one lucky lady that she is getting him!
Last year, we imported a brother and sister from Russia, Azalea and Amaranth. They were both supposed to stay with me, but since Amaranth was co-owned with my friend Sue and she needed a male at the time, we decided to let him live with her and then come back to me at a later time. After a while I no longer needed a male and we decided that Amaranth would stay with Sue and I would get a kitten back from him. Sue now owns Amaranth and his daughter Trinity arrived here yesterday. She is a 10 week old torbie girl and a little spitfire (we don't expect anything else from a redhead!) Torbies can produce other torbie girls and red boys so we are very excited to have her here and can't wait to see what she will bring to the table for our breeding program down the road. For now, Kahlua decided to adopt her and she happily lives with Kahlua's 8 week old kittens. Thank you Sue for this lovely young lady!
After a few weeks of evaluating, we decided to keep 2 girls of our own breeding. Mystic Melody Rumor has it, daughter of Victorya and Jagger and Mystic Melody Ula Ula, daughter of Kahlua and Jagger. Both Rumor and Ula are brown mackerel tabbies with white. We can't wait to see these two little ones grow up.
We have a very quiet breakfast club meeting this morning. Four long time members are missing in action. There was a disturbance in the force at 3 AM last night. Someone climbed on top of the kitchen cabinets and threw a mason jar on the ground. This is not allowed. We will have a meeting on the couch after breakfast, interrogations will be harsh and tough. Anything to make them talk and point paws. No one leaves my lap until I find the guilty feline.
This beautiful girl is a golden shaded tabby. Her name is Mystic Melody Zolotaya, which means as much as "gold" in Russian. We will call her Zoey. She is a daughter of our Knyazhna and Zakhar.
We are very proud and happy to announce the arrival of a new family member: Amurin Hulda. She is a gorgeous brown mackerel torbie and white girl, with outstanding type, health and temperament. We are very grateful to Tessaliina of Amurin cattery in Finland for trusting us with this girl.
